Bryan Adams出生在加拿大，在他事业的初期，他一直担任前 Prism 乐队 Jim Vallence 的助手。 Adams 当时为很多的加拿大乐队写了很多的歌曲，其中有 Loverboy、Bachman Turner Overdrive、Bonnie Tyler 和 Kiss 等乐队。Adams 在 1981 年的时候与 A&M 唱片公司签约并与年底推出了他的处女作《Bryan Adams》，但遗憾的是，该专辑并不十分成功，甚至没有能够成为打榜专辑。但第2年，他推出了他的第 2 张专辑《You Want It, You Got It》这张专辑终于不负厚望，登上了全美排行榜。
在此之后，Bryan Adams整整沉寂了4年。 1991年，Adams 带着新歌“Everything I Do, I Do It For You” 回来了。这首歌是电影《罗宾汉》的插曲，电影取得了票房上的胜利，歌曲则获得了巨大的成功，在美国榜首停留了7周，而在英国榜首停留了15 周。这首歌重新奠定了 Adams 主流摇滚的地位，并为其 1991年推出的 3 白金唱片《Waking Up The Neighbours》打下了基础。其中“Can t Stop This Thing We Started”、“There Will Never Be Another Tonight”、“Thought I d Died And Gone To Heaven”和“Do I Have To Say The Words?”成为热门歌曲。
